How to Connect to the Leaderboard

  1. On your iPhone, download this Apple Shortcut and follow instructions below or in this video

2. Click Set Up Shortcut (bottom of screen)

  • Enter your name (or pseudonym) in the text box provided as you would like to see it displayed on the leaderboard. To be affiliated with a team/organization, please append your “team” as such e.g. John Doe, Sweat Circuit or Jack Black, Roadrunner Sports

  • Click Next (bottom of screen)

3. Per the table below, enter your daily Move calories target (e.g. 680) based on your age, gender, and current weight (lbs).

  • After entering the #, click +Add Shortcut (bottom of screen)

4. Click on the Shortcuts icon (bottom left of screen)

  • In the Send Move Points - May25 rectangular card near the top of the screen, press the “...” or three dots in the circle

  • Scroll down until you see an Input Form under Find Health Samples which says “Shortcuts does not have access to your Active Energy data”. (Note: If you have used this shortcut method before in prior challenges, you may not see this so proceed to Step 5)

    • Select Allow Access (which will open up a pop-up for Health Access)

    • Select Turn On All and then press Allow in the top right

5. Go back in the Find Health Samples area

  • Make sure the inputs for “Start Date is between” are 4/1/2025 and 5/24/2025 

  • FYI, the actual competition is from 5/3 - 5/23. For troubleshooting reasons, we want to make sure the data transmission is working for everyone before the competition starts. All “warmup” period data before 5/3 will be removed when the competition begins.

  • Click Done in the top right of the screen

6. Click on the Automations tab (bottom center)

  • Click New Automation or the + in the top right corner

  • Select the “>” next to Time of Day

    • Choose 9:00 PM i.e. when you will be asked to transmit Move data to leaderboard

    • If you go to bed before 9 pm, please select something closer to your bedtime. 

    • Make sure the Repeat section is set to both Daily as well as Run After Confirmation 

    • Click Next in the top right of the card

7. Scroll through My Shortcuts and find “Send Move Points - May25” and click in the center

8. Click on the Shortcuts tab again

9. Click on the Send Move Points card in the center

  • A circle in the top right of the Send Move Points - May25 card should activate

  • When prompted, press Always Allow (i.e. allows Move points to be sent to leaderboard) 

  • Then press Allow for Notifications which will inform you if the data was uploaded correctly on each submission

  • Close the Shortcuts app

  • Look for yourself on the leaderboard at https://may25.competeforcauses.com

10. Each evening at 9 pm, a notification will appear.

  • Press on the notification and click on Run each night.

  • If sent successfully, another notification will appear saying so.
